Here's a picture of the Consol Energy Center.  There will be many more.  The new arena and the neighborhood that surrounds it are a critical aspect of the Pittsburgh Penguins Government Affairs initiatives these days.  When the city of Pittsburgh and the Penguins agreed on the terms to build the new facility, some important agreements were made that will positively affect the city and the organization for years to come.  I have learned a lot about the organization, the new arena and how it affects the local community by reading various media reports.  Obviously the Penguins are a very high profile organization in the city of Pittsburgh which makes finding information that much easier.

First day is in the books!  I was happy to get started with a project almost immediately after arriving.  I helped format a contact list which included numerous elected and appointed officials from around Pittsburgh.  All of my experience with Microsoft Excel came in handy!

My office is inside the administrative offices of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The offices are located inside the Consol Energy Center (CEC).  The CEC is a brand new state-of-the-art multi-purpose arena and event facility located on the eastern edge of downtown Pittsburgh.  The building has only been in use for approximately two years.  The CEC is huge!  I know it will take me awhile to get acclimated to all of the different floors and entrances and exits.  Fortunately getting in and out of the administrative offices is relatively simple.
